Celebrate National First Responders Day with a fun, family-friendly afternoon featuring a real fire truck, firefighter meet-and-greets, photo opportunities, and more!
Looking for something fun to do with the kids after school? Head over to the Applebee’s | IHOP in Hawthorne on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM, for a special celebration honoring our local first responders!
In recognition of National First Responders Day, the Hawthorne Fire Department is bringing a fire truck to the restaurant, giving kids and families a chance to get an up-close look at the vehicle and meet some of the hometown heroes who help keep our community safe.
A Fun Afternoon for the Whole Family
Little ones who dream of becoming firefighters will especially love this event! Families can look forward to:
- Explore a real fire truck: Kids can climb aboard and get a closer look at the equipment firefighters use.
- Meet local firefighters: Say hello to members of the Hawthorne Fire Department and learn more about the important work they do.
- Free firefighter hats: Kids can take home their very own plastic firefighter hats.
- Fun photo opportunities: Capture special memories with local firefighters and the fire truck.
- First responder recognition displays: Help celebrate the brave men and women who serve our community every day.
Giving Back to Our Local Heroes
The celebration is about more than just family fun. The Doherty-owned Hawthorne Applebee’s | IHOP is showing its appreciation for local firefighters, police officers, EMTs, and other first responders by offering 50% off an entrée for local first responders during the celebration.
Even better, a portion of the day's restaurant sales will be donated to the Hawthorne Fire Department, helping support the local heroes who work tirelessly to keep our neighborhoods safe.
It's a wonderful opportunity for families to enjoy an afternoon together while teaching children about community service, gratitude, and the important role first responders play in our everyday lives.
